In response to the recent challenges in the locum market, we’ve made a series of important updates to ensure smoother interactions on the Messly platform and a better experience for both doctors and recruiters. These changes aim to streamline our operations and improve the quality of doctor applicatns you receive, especially during this period of reduced locum demand.

Key Changes:

  1. Expired Job Listings
We have reviewed and expired all job listings that have been inactive for too long, and will only keep listings live for 30 days. By keeping only current and relevant opportunities on the platform, we ensure that doctors and recruiters are interacting with fresh, active listings. We encourage you to regularly review your active job postings to keep the platform updated.

  2. NHS Experience Requirement for Doctors

To improve the quality of applicants on Messly, we’ve restricted registration to only accept doctors with NHS experience. Doctors who do not have NHS experience will no longer be able to register or reactivate their accounts on Messly. This step minimises confusion and prevents unnecessary interactions with unsuitable candidates. If you encounter doctors without NHS experience over the phone, please notify us so we can address this promptly.

  3. Require Profile Approval Before Calls

We have introduced a new feature called 'Require Profile Approval Before Calls'. By enabling this, recruiters can review the profiles of doctors who apply to their jobs before a call can be scheduled. This feature aims to help prevent unwanted calls from being automatically booked, giving you more control over your calendar. You can find toggle this setting on or off from your Account Settings page.

What This Means for You:

  • Expect to see a smaller, more focused pool of doctor profiles, all of whom have recent NHS experience and are well-suited to the locum roles on offer.

  • There will be fewer outdated job listings, reducing unnecessary interactions and increasing the quality of job-doctor matches.

  • We’re doing our best to simplify your work by ensuring only relevant, high-quality doctors make their way to you.

If you have any questions or feedback regarding these changes, feel free to reach out to us. We’re committed to supporting you through this period and ensuring the platform remains a valuable tool for sourcing top-quality locum doctors. We will also be monitoring these changes closely, along with market conditions, and will notify you if further alterations are made in the future.
