Messly for Locums is an innovative, clinician-led service transforming temporary staffing within the NHS by connecting doctors directly with hospitals. We want to give doctors the chance to work more flexibly, and provide a platform for Trusts to staff their hospitals in a reliable and cost-effective way.

Here's a short video of how our service works:

What are we looking for?

We've proven that Messly saves time and money, and improved morale in departments thanks to a well-managed staffing process. We are looking to expand across the NHS - and we want our doctors to be involved.

We’re looking for smart and ambitious doctors to support the implementation of Messly as part of a quality-improvement project with their Trusts.

You'll be:

  • Passionate about making an impact in quality and process within the NHS
  • Interested in developing your management and leadership skills
  • Have an interest in health technology/medical technology

Is my department right for Messly?

Messly will benefit your department if you can answer yes to any of the following statements:

  • There is a poor or non-existent process for finding locum doctors in the department
  • There is high reliance on locum agencies within the department
  • Staffing shortages are having an impact on doctor morale
  • Staffing shortages are having an impact on patient care

What’s in it for you?

An exciting opportunity to work with a health tech startup

We are a young team of doctors, marketeers, and developers who are passionate about making an impact within the NHS. You'll be working closely with us throughout the pilot and there is an opportunity for part-time and full-time work with us in future.

Making an impact at your Trust

As doctors, we know how frustrating it can be working within the NHS. We often do so in spite of the NHS. The project will provide a chance to make a tangible difference to the quality of care delivered in your department.

Developing leadership and management skills

You'll be given ownership of the project and be challenged to use your communication and problem-solving skills throughout.

Compensation for your time

We appreciate your time is valuable - so we'll make sure you're rewarded for it.

Time Requirements:

There are 3 phases of the quality improvement project you'll be involved in:

  1. Initial Assessment (1 - 2 days)

Initial scope and setup of the service, including data collection, review of current practices and getting the department on board with the pilot.

    2. Implementing Messly ( 1-2 hours per week)

Ensuring smooth running of the three-month pilot by supporting doctors and rota coordinators.

   3. Review (1 - 2 days)

Throughout the pilot, one of our Clinical Leads will be on hand to support you with materials (audit templates, presentations etc) and check-in regularly to ensure successful outcome of the project. You don't need to be working in the department for the whole pilot.
